Southgate Library’s 2026 Accessibility Upgrades Affect Florin-Area Public Services

FLORIN, Sacramento County — November 1, 2026. Sacramento Public Library included the Southgate branch at 6132 66th Avenue in a 2026 accessibility improvement program intended to make library buildings easier to use for people with disabilities.

In a February 13 announcement, the library said that five branches would receive heating, cooling or accessibility upgrades with support from a California State Library grant. For Southgate, the scope involved interior and exterior improvements related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

What was scheduled?

Library officials identified February 27, 2026, as the anticipated start date and March 31, 2026, as the expected completion date for Southgate work. The branch was expected to remain open while the upgrades took place.

Those dates are from an earlier project announcement. They do not prove that every item of construction was completed exactly on schedule or establish the outcome of a final inspection. Residents seeking details about wheelchair routes, accessible restrooms or other accommodations should ask the library directly.

Services for the community

Southgate provides public computers, free Wi-Fi, printing, a meeting room and collections in multiple languages. These services are especially useful where residents need a local place to access online forms, public information and education resources.

The library’s official branch page lists current hours and a contact number of (916) 264-2920. Check that page before visiting.
